Summer with Refugees

This summer, the summer of 2014, I am interning with Community Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS) in Columbus, Ohio.  My primary functions as a communications intern are to blog, interview staff members and refugees, and promote events.  According to its mission statement, CRIS exists to "help refugees and immigrants reach and sustain self-sufficiency and achieve successful integration into the central Ohio community."

As a capstone to my internship with CRIS this summer I am creating a documentary film to spread awareness about the lives of refugees in Columbus, Ohio as they adjust to life in America.  This project is possible because of a grant I received from Davidson College's Center for Civic Engagement.
